First Home Purchase with Montana NeighborhoodLIFT!

Updated: Dec 17, 2019

Many years ago, Susan thought about walking through our doors in hopes of purchasing a home. As time passed and life happened, she postponed this idea, thinking this was a some day kind of dream. However, as of December 6th, Susan finally achieved her dreams of homeownership and could not be happier to have something of her very own.

When a friend found out about NeighborhoodLIFT coming to Montana, she reached out to Susan and pushed her to sign up for the program. This time around, Susan contacted NeighborWorks and was soon approved to receive the LIFT loan made possible by Wells Fargo and NeighborWorks America. With the help of her realtor and now friend, Mary Lou Nelson, they found the perfect place for Susan to call home. She explained her journey into homeownership as a difficult process but well worth the work. We could not be happier for Susan, as she is the first LIFT participant to close on a home across the state of Montana!

Susan explained, “NeighborWorks is amazing, and I enjoyed all of the classes and counseling. When the LIFT program came up, I thought, ‘WOW, I cannot believe this!’ It has been such a blessing, and I could not have done any of this without it.” With the holidays fast approaching, she bought a brand new kitchen table big enough to share meals with the ones she loves. Susan is a teacher with Head Start and has three children and seven grandchildren. As someone who is great at taking care of those around her, we are so proud of Susan for achieving her very own dream of homeownership, and we are happy to be a part of her story.

NeighborhoodLIFT provides eligible homebuyers with $10,000 of fully forgiven down payment assistance on qualified properties ($12,500 for veterans and service members, teachers, paraprofessionals, law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians). Assistance is not limited to first time homebuyers, and slots are filling up fast! Visit https://www.montanalift.org/ to learn more and see if you qualify.
